Book a Turkey holiday and enjoy smart shopping

Those hoping to pick up a bargain or two during their overseas break may wish to consider a Turkey villa holiday.

In an article for Tribune Media Services, journalist Rick Steves explained that Turkey offers excellent value as a result of the favourable exchange rate.

Indeed, British holiday makers may find they get more for their money in Turkey, as the country is outside of the eurozone.

He also gave tourists some top tips on how to shop smartly, such as heading to flea markets instead of upmarket stores.

Bargain hunters should also shop around as they would at home, he added.

"Do your research if you are looking for a high-end item," he recommended. "Before heading off to buy a Turkish carpet, learn the going rate, types of material, and signs of quality."

Mr Steves also advised Turkey villa holiday makers to avid buying anything they don't have to while on holiday.

For example, if they come across a bottle of wine they like, tourists should write down the name of it and look for it back home, instead of carrying excess weight on their return journey.
