More people are opting to take holidays in Spain and, in particular, destinations such as Tenerife this year.
New figures from the Spanish government show there was a four per cent rise in the number of tourists heading to the country in August, compared with the same month in 2009.
Despite a difficult period in the vacation industry, the popularity of Spain appears to be holding strong.
A holiday in Tenerife was named as one of the top three choices of those heading to the nation during the month in question.
Alex Saint, from comparison site dealchecker.co.uk, notes: "Holidays in Tenerife have traditionally been a popular choice for many travellers, due to the warm weather, great food and friendly locals."
TNT magazine has recently praised Tenerife for being one of the top winter holiday destinations, explaining its tasty cuisine and plethora of beautiful beaches are both reasons for visiting the island.
