Tenerife and Lanzarote holidays 'popular at this time of year'
The end of the summer traditionally signals a strong period in the popularity of holidays in Tenerife, Lanzarote and the other Canary islands - and this year is no different.
Trevor Davis, director of retail distribution at the Co-Operative Travel, suggests autumn is a good time to get away from it all and relax on the beach somewhere for a week or two.
"We've seen a big increase in holiday makers chasing the last of the summer sun," he notes.
And one of the top destinations among those seeking winter sun is the Canary Islands, with bookings for the area significantly up on last year.
One of the most-common reasons for taking a Lanzarote or Tenerife holiday during winter is the year-round warmth that is found there.
Bob Atkinson, travel expert at Travelsupermarket.com, recently said the Canaries is one of the few short-haul destinations where the weather remains good for 12 months a year.
