People may be more inclined to take up stays in Tenerife villas, thanks to the efforts of an organisation on the popular Canary Island.
The Tenerife Tourism Corporation has been recognised with the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) Affiliates Green Award.
Efforts in promoting sustainable travel across Tenerife were the key reason behind the organisation receiving the prize.
After being presented the award during the AITO anniversary dinner in London's Millennium Gloucester Hotel, the Tenerife Tourism Corporation claimed that it helps build on the island's image as being "a leading destination in sustainability and responsible tourism".
Carlos Alonso, Tenerife's tourism minister, looked to the future by adding: "We have a number of amazing initiatives that we are working on which will reflect our recognition of the importance of sustainability for Tenerife."
Recently, a study by Carhiremarket.com pointed out that trips to Tenerife will prove popular over the next two months, if the number of car hire bookings on the island is anything to go on.
