A traveller has detailed her experience in Tenerife, where some British travellers may wish to unwind in a villa this winter.
Breanne Watson, writing for the Richmond Globetrotter, said the Spanish island offers visitors plenty to do should they wish to escape the miles of sandy beaches.
She noted her decision to visit the capital city of Santa Cruz turned out to be a good one, with a host of hidden treasures uncovered during her time there.
Ms Watson recalled taking pictures of the "large, bizarre-shaped building" that turned out to be Tenerife Auditorium, before she found a buzzing market in the resort's centre.
"You name it, they had it. It was complete madness. Browsing my way up and down the streets, I found a couple gifts to tuck away for Christmas," the tourist described.
Budget airline Jet2.com recently announced it is to launch extra services to Tenerife from its base at Glasgow Airport, further increasing the options for those wishing to holiday on the island.
