Holiday makers heading to a villa in Tenerife for a break over the next few months have been advised hiring a car will significantly enhance their enjoyment.
Pia Louw, travel industry director at the Tenerife Tourism Corporation, said access to transport is vital if tourists are to get to know the whole of the popular island.
He noted having a car to explore the landmass for approximately 60 per cent of a stay is recommended in order to travel between some of the major resorts and attractions.
Commenting on the diversity travellers can expect to find when venturing away from their villa in Tenerife, Mr Louw stated: "It's so different [from] the north to the south, the east to the west and the capital. It's like five countries on an island."
One of the major tourist spots on the island is Loro Parque, a wildlife centre with a mix of nature and education, which recently claimed it offered a "one-of-a-kind" day out.
