More people are booking holidays in Tenerife as tourists begin to realise what an excellent destination this particular Canary Island is for getting some winter sun.
Tenerife council has now confirmed that the island has seen a 15 per cent increase in winter holiday bookings – which includes the period of October to April - by British tourists so far this year, Canaries News reported.
However, while this suggests holidays in Tenerife have a good reputation with Brits, minister of tourism for Tenerife Carlos Alonso said that the island is remaining cautious about its predictions for tourism numbers in 2012.
Nevertheless, he said that the data suggests the island will get even more visitors in the summer and expressed his delight about "the high expectations of visitors from the UK".
According to TripAdvisor's 2012 Travel Trends Survey, 66 per cent of Brits are planning to take between two and four holidays next year.
