Britons who pack their belongings and head off for a holiday in Tenerife this winter can bank on a stunning setting and plenty of sun upon arrival.
Peter Hardy, writing a travel piece for the Daily Mail, recalls the words of astronaut Neil Armstrong, who once said the Spanish island was the closest he had seen to the landscape of the moon.
And as the first man to land on the lunar rock, "he should know what he's talking about", the author notes.
Mr Hardy goes on to explain Tenerife is the proof that there is no need to travel to the other side of the world for warmth and "spectacular scenery" in winter.
Just four hours from London by air, the resort is one that should satisfy everybody at this time of year.
Nick Trend, author of an article for the Daily Telegraph, recently described the winter weather in Tenerife as being similar to that found in the UK during the middle of the summer.
