A man who appeared on a television dating show and enjoyed a holiday in Tenerife as a result has been rewarded with a "dream job" on Emmerdale.
The ITV soap moved to snap up David Jeffrey after he was seen by viewers looking for love on the channel's Saturday night matchmaking series Take Me Out, reports the Sun.
Mr Jeffrey, who is a professional blind fitter, chose Donna Wheeler, 27, as his ideal date and the pair travelled to the Canaries.
Fans of the show saw the couple relax by the island's beautiful beaches and enjoy a meal together on the shore.
And the contestant has now landed a permanent role in Emmerdale, where he will take on the character of a village local.
An insider tells the newspaper: "David's really excited. He went on Take Me Out hoping for a girlfriend - and got a dream job at the same time."
Other stars to holiday in Tenerife in recent weeks include Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez and The Only Way is Essex actress Sam Faiers.
