One travel writer has described his visit to the 'hidden village' of Masca as one of the highlights of his recent holiday in Tenerife.
Peter Hardy, penning a piece for the Daily Telegraph, says after a few days on the glorious beaches of the island he decided to hire a car and explore the centre of the landmass.
The landscape is very different in the mountainous middle compared with the sandy coastline - with rocks, few plants and lower temperature immediately noticeable.
However, Mr Hardy reached Masca, a resort that was once inaccessible apart from by boat, which he says was the best moment of his trip.
"The tortuously steep one track road that snakes down to it will test your driving skills to the limit," he muses.
Nick Trend, also writing for the newspaper, recently said the weather in Tenerife during the winter is very much like a British summer.
