A carnival extravaganza due to get underway in February is one of the factors behind the success of holidays in Tenerife over the winter period.
Organisers believe the festival is arguably the star attraction on the island's packed events calendar and a must-see spectacle for travellers.
Taking place in the capital of Santa Cruz, the carnival kicks off on February 15th when temperatures on the Spanish land can be expected to reach approximately 20 degrees C.
Among the highlights on the event's schedule are the Carnival Queen Election, the opening street parade and the Burial of the Sardine ritual.
Bosses believe it to be "perfect for outdoor fiesta", with dance acts and top musical performances also lined up to supplement a number of parades and marches through the quaint resort.
Gill Charlton, writing for the Daily Telegraph, recently nominated the southern coast of Tenerife as perfect for a holiday at this time of year.
