People in the UK look set to ignore the economic tribulations and still take holidays in the new year, such as via relaxing getaways to Tenerife villas.
According to TripAdvisor's 2012 Travel Trends Survey, 66 per cent of Brits are preparing to take between two and four leisure trips next year.
Furthermore, a quarter of those who took part in the study are planning to spend more cash on travelling next year than what they did during their holidays in 2011.
Another 59 per cent of respondents intend to spend the same amount of cash, while just 16 per cent are hoping to spend less money.
Emma Shaw, a spokesperson at TripAdvisor, commented: "This year's results demonstrate that while financial concerns are clearly front of mind, resilient Brits are not prepared to sacrifice their 2012 holidays."
For those looking to take a holiday abroad in the next few months, Sean Tipton, spokesman for ABTA – The Travel Association, advised considering a trip to short-haul destinations like Spain and Portugal to catch some appealing winter sun.
