Winter holidays in the south of France 'not all about skiing'
People who book a holiday in the south of France this winter have more options than snow sports, an organisation has advised.
Val d'Isere Tourist Board, representing the popular skiing haunt, has pointed out a number of other activities will be taking place close to its iconic slopes over the coming weeks.
For example, it noted there is to be a gourmet event where local chefs will aim to offer a taste of authentic and ethical French cuisine.
Pistes Gourmandes will see a number of food experts, writers and chefs travel to the resort.
And there will also be a competition entitled La Cuillere d'Or – or the Golden Spoon in English – where amateur cooks battle to prepare the best meal for eight people in three-and-a-half hours.
Meanwhile, those who are interested in skiing and snowboarding can use their iPhone to keep up to date with conditions in the location, as the Ski Club of Great Britain recently said its app features live information.
