Wine expert recommends holidays in Provence
Travellers may be interested in renting south of France holiday villas after a wine expert recommended visiting Provence.
Trond Arne Undheim said that there are many aspects of the area to recommend it to visitors, including the fact that it is the oldest wine region in the country.
Writing for Color Magazine, he explained the drink arrived in Provence 2,600 years ago, brought by ancient Phoenicians and wine from there is gradually becoming more popular around the world, with more than 600 producers in the region.
Describing Provence, Mr Undheim stated: "The terrain is stunning: hills, bushes and shrubs in green and ochre. Soft herbal smells of wild lavender, rosemary and thyme fill your nose."
Meanwhile, Anthony Peregrine recently wrote in the Daily Telegraph that the city of Nice is the ideal place to visit during a holiday in the south of France, praising the cuisine, the fine wine and the "sparkling Mediterranean".
