Why to visit Dordogne on holidays in the south of France

Families hoping to enjoy a relaxing break based around villas in the south of France have been encouraged to travel to the Dordogne region.

The south-west area of France is ideal for both parents and their children, according to Daily Telegraph expert Natasha Edwards.

When it comes to deciding the resort in Dordogne to base a getaway to, Ms Edwards advises checking out Pays Basque.

She explained: "It's one of my favourite regions with a mix of sea and mountains, beautiful vast old farmhouses and a fascinating language largely made up of xs."

The expert went on to point out that the beaches of St-Jean-de-Luz are ideal for relaxing and soaking up the sun, while Biarritz allows people to indulge in inland-level surfing activities and classy shopping trips.

Meanwhile, Giuseppe Cosmai, general manager of Le Mas Candille, has recently told those seeking out villas in the south of France that Provence allows holiday makers to enjoy their getaway in "one of the best regions in the world".
