UV sunglasses advised when taking ski holidays in south of France

Holiday makers who are preparing to snap up villas in the south of France to take in the region's ski resorts have been given some health tips.

Dharmesh Patel, chairman of the Eyecare Trust, believes that people need to protect their peepers during trips up the slopes.

In order to carry out this task, the expert advised that Brits make sure to pack UV protective eyewear in their suitcases before heading out to south of France villas in the Alps.

"High altitudes increase UV radiation levels and fresh snow can reflect as much as 80 per cent of the radiation, so it's vital that you protect your eyes both when you're on the slopes and whilst enjoying your apres ski," Mr Patel acknowledged.

He went on to note that UV sunglasses and ski goggles can help to shade eyes from at least 99 per cent of potentially dangerous rays.

For those looking to stay closer to sea level while in south of France villas, a stay in Marseille between November and December allows families to get into the festive mood, thanks to the city's dazzling Christmas illuminations.
