South of France winter holiday may be great value for money
People considering taking a holiday in the south of France this winter in order to enjoy snow-based activities may find they enjoy greater value for money than in recent years.
According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, the improved fortunes of sterling against the euro will mean skiers, snowboarders and other winter sports enthusiasts will find their cash goes further in the coming months.
Betony Garner, a spokeswoman for the organisations, says such tourists have been hit financially in the last two years as the euro has strengthened against the pound.
However, she notes, people will now "definitely" find their travel money buys them more.
One place this could be particularly obvious is in the south of France, where luxurious coastal resorts are just a short drive from some of Europe's finest slopes in the Alps.
According to a recent announcement by Post Office Travel, people heading on holiday this winter will typically have eight per cent more to spend than they did in 2009.
