South of France villas 'should be booked separately for a ski holiday'

Money can be saved if people choose to book their ski adventure independently, such as snapping up villas in the south of France separately to activities at a resort.

According to foreign exchange firm Travelex, up to 25 per cent could be cut from a cost of a holiday if families opt for a no-thrills getaway over a thorough package.

Speaking to This Is Money about this topic, Ruth and Chris Smith are still hoping to enjoy their ski adventure each year, despite Chris recently retiring as a deputy head teacher.

In order to bring down the amount of money spent on their trip abroad, the couple opt to snap up travel and accommodation separately.

Ruth explained: "We've been skiing for ten years together and we've never done a package.

"We find we can keep costs down by going at off-peak times and booking our own self-catering chalet."

However, to ensure a trip to south of France villas for a ski adventure goes without a hitch, Bob Atkinson, a travel expert at MoneySupermarket.com, recently urged Brits to always take out travel insurance before heading on the getaway.
