South of France villas: Brits seeking out home comforts abroad

Many Brits could be missing out on the cultural delights of an overseas country, such as when they book up villas in the south of France.

This is because a new study conducted by sunshine.co.uk has found that 55 per cent of people from the UK try to find home comforts when abroad.

For example, 37 per cent of respondents search for restaurants with typical British dishes on the menu, while 25 per cent opt for pubs with a homely feel to them.

Another finding from the sunshine.co.uk study was that only nine per cent try to speak the language of a country they are visiting, with 48 per cent of people expecting natives to instead know English.

Chris Brown, co-founder of the organisation, commented: "I think it's a real shame when British holiday makers don't attempt to try the language or cuisine of the country they are visiting."

To really get a taste of French culture when staying in south of France villas, holiday makers may want to head along to one of the many Bastille Day celebrations being held in the region on July 14th.
