South of France villas: Brits budgeting when planning a ski resort trip

Many holiday makers heading to a ski resort, perhaps while in south of France villas, are looking to cut the expenditure of their trip.

These are the findings of a new study that has been carried out by Sainsbury's Travel Money, which highlighted that 73 per cent of tourists are planning on spending less while visiting the slopes this winter.

In order to achieve this task, almost a quarter of respondents to the survey (23 per cent) intend to find a cheap resort to base their getaway on.

Furthermore, 16 per cent intend to borrow ski equipment and clothes instead of purchasing or hiring items, while 28 per cent look to carry packed lunches while on the piste.

However, David Barrett, from Sainsbury's Travel Money, was keen to point out: "Whilst budgeting and finding the best deal is important, consumers planning a skiing holiday should not scrimp on travel insurance."

Recently, Dr Robert Dimeff, professor of orthopaedic surgery, pediatrics and family and community medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center's orthopaedic sports medicine program, urged holiday makers to undertake a thorough exercise regime before heading to a ski resort.
