People who stay in a villa in the south of France this winter will have access to one of the world's top winter sports destinations.
The Daily Telegraph, compiling a list of its best five spots for skiing, names Val Thorens as its first selection in this category.
Located close to the Italian border, the snowy spot is accessible for those staying on the Mediterranean coast or slightly inland, with some people perhaps fancying a day trip to the slopes as part of their break.
However, it may be worth booking a villa in the south of France as soon as possible, as the newspaper notes Val Thorens is an "excellent early-season resort".
The location is one of the largest winter sports areas in the world and is part of the famous Three Valleys.
Holiday makers in the region already could enjoy the Criterium de la Premiere Neige - Skiing world cup – as it is due to take place in the south of France this weekend (December 11th and 12th).
