South of France villa holiday makers should consider sustainability

Holiday makers renting a South of France villa should consider ways to ensure they travel in as sustainable manner as possible.

That is to be inferred from comments made by the World Tourism Council, in which it highlighted the danger that growing tourism poses to some of the world's most cherished destinations.

The World Tourism Council recently created a list of its most at risk destinations, however, holiday destinations in all countries could benefit from a more sustainable approach to tourism.

Erika Harms, executive director of the Tourism Sustainability Council, suggested travellers have an important role to play in safeguarding these sites for future visitors, along with governments and agencies.

She said: "That's why we created the TSC and the Global Sustainability Tourism Criteria so that travellers can actually identify what are the requirements to be sustainable and that they have a clear vision."

There are a number of great places to visit in the while on a holiday in the South of France, including Biarritz, Languedoc and the Côte d'Azur.
