South of France villa can be base for Christmas fun

There is plenty of festive fun to be had across the English Channel for those who book a villa in the south of France for November or December.

Tourism organisation Atout France says now the countdown to December 25th is underway, it is time to think about what the country can offer at this time of year.

It suggests visiting any of the nation's most beautiful cities, with many promising to "glam it up" over the festive season.

Meanwhile, Christmas markets and other activities are worth a look and the skiing region provides an option for those hoping to cool down for a day or two, all within a short drive of the Mediterranean coast.

Perhaps best of all, tourists staying at villas in the south of France can enjoy Christmas dinner with a French twist, with the authority urging people to try national produce such as foie gras, champagne and wine.

Atout France recently announced it is sending experts to the World Travel Market exhibition in London on November 8th, where tourists can pick up tips on how to make the most of their time in the country.
