South of France to get fine art exhibitions

Holiday makers on the lookout for fine art should consider the south of France, as the region benefits when Paris enjoys its summer holiday.

A report for MonstersandCritics.com stated that the Paul-Valery Museum, south-west of Montpellier, is among the best art houses in the country.

It currently features work by Spanish artist Juan Gris until October 31st, with 50 works on display.

He is compared to the likes of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque and was one of the foremost exponents of Cubism.

"For a long time he stood in the shadow of both artists although this is unjustified," commented museum director Maithe Valles-Bled.

Furthermore, the news source said that the French Riviera is celebrating 60 years of contemporary art and the Chagall Museum in Nice, along with the Picasso Museum in Antibes, are taking part in this celebration.

Biarritz is currently home to the Asian Art collection at the Asiatica Museum, showing off work looking at Oriental cultures until the end of August.
