South of France holidays 'ideal for luxury seekers'
South of France holidays are a good option for people planning to treat themselves to a luxury getaway this year, according to a local tourism industry spokeswoman.
Florence Lecointre, international press officer for the French Riviera Tourist Board, said there are several destinations for luxury travellers to visit in the region, including the three peninsular towns of Cap Ferrat, Cap Martin and Cap d'Ail.
People planning to do some shopping or take in some culture during a south of France villa holiday this year were encouraged to visit Cannes, Monaco or Nice.
"You can spend one day in Nice to visit the museums and walk through the markets, then the day after you can go by train or bus to … Cannes or to the mountains or to Monaco," Ms Lecointre said.
The French Riviera Tourist Board spokeswoman also highlighted some of the luxury activities on offer in the region, such as going sailing or taking a helicopter tour.
