South of France holidays 'highly popular among skiers'
Skiing is still a hugely popular reason for taking a holiday in the south of France during the winter months, according to one expert.
David McLoughlin, manager of comparison site Idealo.co.uk, explains the mixture of luxury and budget options in the region makes it a favourite with travellers.
He recommends heading to spots such as Meribel and Les Allues, which are easily accessible from many of the villas on offer in the south of France.
Offering advice to those with less cash at their disposal, Mr McLoughlin states: "For guaranteed budget options in the Three Valleys ski area look to lower altitude resorts such as Brides les Bains. It's located just below Méribel and a 25-minute trip by high-speed gondola."
Recent research by the leading site suggested demand for winter sports holidays is down by 17 per cent this year – statistics the manager clearly does not agree paint the whole picture.
