South of France holidays: Sunscreen 'still important' when skiing

Despite the high levels of snow often found on ski slopes around south of France villas, holiday makers should be aware of the sun's glare.

Bevis Man, communications manager at the British Skin Foundation, admitted that it does sound odd to apply sunscreen while in a ski resort.

However, the expert acknowledged that many benefits to a person's health and wellbeing can come from taking up this option.

"To avoid getting that 'panda eyes' effect, apply sunscreen liberally as you would on exposed parts of skin as if it were summer, as both water and ice are very good reflectors of UV radiation," Mr Man pointed out.

In order to ensure a tourist is protected while staying in villas in the south of France at a ski resort, the expert advised applying lotion to the face, hands and head.

For those hoping to stay nearer sea level while on holidays in the south of France, Nina Nagel, spokeswoman at the Mougins Tourism Office, has noted that the village of Mougins allows people to see the awe-inspiring French Riviera.
