South of France holiday map appeal to foodies

Those who love nothing more than fine food and drink while taking in another country may wish to book a holiday in the south of France.

That is because a Chestnut and Cider Festival is due to be hosted in the region next month, reports Guide2 Midi Pyrenees.

Set to be held in the town of Sauveterre-de-Rouergue, the event will feature the local cuisine as well as a number of musical performances by talented local artists.

There will also be a regional market and a full schedule of evening entertainment at the festival, which will take place on October 30th and 31st, the tourist site notes.

It may be ideal for people on holiday in the south of France who would like to enjoy an authentic taste of the region, as it is steeped in history, having been organised every year since 1962.

Research this week by uSwitch.com suggests people in the area may benefit from some of the highest standards in Europe, with France named as the country with the best quality of life in the continent.
