Skiing on holiday in south of France 'can be done on a budget'
Taking a holiday in the south of France in order to visit some of the region's top skiing spots may sound like an expensive option but tourists have been assured they can do just that on a budget.
David McLoughlin, manager at price comparison site Idealo.co.uk, explains extra expenses such as specialist clothing, ski lessons, insurance and lift passes can raise the cost of such a trip.
However, getting the accommodation right is arguably the key to finding a good deal – with villas in the south of France one option for keen winter sportsmen.
"Budget flights to ski destinations ... mean that skiing is now possible on a budget. In reality, if you plan ahead and do some research it's possible to get to the slopes for under £100," states Mr McLoughlin.
Skiers and snowboarders may also find there is less competition for winter sports holidays, with research by the website recently concluding demand for trips to the slopes is down by 17 per cent this year.
