Ski instructor could help tourists make most of south of France holiday

People who head to the south of France for a winter holiday in the coming weeks may wish to make skiing a large part of their break.

With some of the world's best slopes located in the region, a trip to the Mediterranean coast may not be complete without experiencing the pistes.

Guy-Aime Hudry, head manager of Ecole du Ski Francais, says taking tips from a professional is a great way to get started.

Among the benefits of hiring an instructor is the ability to get off on the right footing, as an expert will ensure skiers are in the right position and have completed the correct exercises to start skiing.

"Ski instructors know the slopes very well and can choose the itinerary according to [the] quality of snow, hours of sunshine and beauty of the landscape," Mr Hudry notes.

People thinking of booking a south of France holiday may be reassured by recent news from the Association of British Travel Organisers to France, which said several inches of snow fell in the Alps earlier this week with more expected.
