Rent Provence villas to see Ironman France

South of France villa holidays will offer the opportunity for sports fans to see an impressive spectacle of stamina and endurance this summer.

The 2010 Ironman France triathlon will take place in the city of Nice on June 27th.

Some 2,500 athletes from 52 countries around the world will travel to the region to take part in the event, which is returning for its sixth outing this year.

Holiday makers staying in Provence villas will be able to look on as the competitors set off on the gruelling challenge with a 3.8km swim, which is followed by a 180km cycle race.

The event is then brought to a finish with a 42km run - the same distance as a full marathon.

Ironman triathlons are held all over the world throughout the year to find competitors for the annual World Championship, which has been held in Hawaii since 1978.

As well as keeping an eye out for any other sporting events, holiday makers visiting Nice can explore areas such as the Baie des Anges and see sights like the Colline du Chateau.
