Rent Languedoc villas to explore "the secret south of France"

Holiday makers planning stays in Languedoc villas this year will have the opportunity to explore the Gard region to discover what writer Lucy Wadham describes as "the secret south of France".

In an article for the Financial Times, Ms Wadham states that the Gard offers many of the sights and experiences on offer in Provence without the high price tag.

Visitors can see rolling hills populated by vineyards, cypress trees, olive groves and lavender just like in Provence, and explore similar hilltop villages and markets selling all sorts of local produce.

Travellers can book Languedoc villas for a south of France holiday to visit locations such as Uzes, which Ms Wadham describes as "a gem of medieval-renaissance architecture".

Located about 25km north-east of Nimes, the town is home to spectacular historical attractions such as the cathedral of Saint-Theodorit and popular gathering points like the Place aux Herbes.

Ms Wadham, writer of the book The Secret Life of France, also recommended a trip to Nimes to see its well-preserved Roman arena and temple.
