Reasons to visit Montpellier while in south of France villas

Families are in for a treat if they head to Montpellier during their next visit to south of France villas.

The picturesque French city is home to a variety of eye-catching attractions which will allow a day trip to fly by.

Animal lovers should not miss out on the chance to visit Montpellier Zoo during their getaway, for example, with the 80-hectare site housing over 500 animals.

It is not just animals which should entertain people at this venue though, as the zoo also has an Amazonian greenhouse where more than 4,500 unique flowers and plants can be viewed.

Holiday makers hoping to gain knowledge of Montpellier's history during their stay in south of France villas can also take a trip to St Pierre Cathedral.

Originally constructed in 1364 to be the monastery of the Saint-Benoit, Montpellier's iconic structure was rebuilt during the 1700s in the aftermath of the Wars of Religion.

A highlight of the cathedral for families to seek out is the two pillars which are used to provide support for the attraction's grand porch.
