Reasons to explore the Canal du Midi while in south of France villas

While staying in south of France villas near to the region of Languedoc-Roussillon, families may want to consider a trip to the Canal du Midi.

The destination has been described as "picturesque" by a TravelBite.co.uk writer, who advised Brits to visit the area at least once during their travels to France.

"Alongside the beautiful landscapes, you'll discover there are numerous fascinating places to visit, from fairytale towns to marvellous museums," the expert pointed out.

When it comes to deciding on the resorts to seek out while based in the Canal du Midi, the writer advised a stay at Le Somail, as fun can be had in abundance at the site's quirky hat museum.

Ventenac-en-Minervois could be a place for parents to sample some fine French wine too, while a host of ancient landscapes can be explored during a trip to the Roman town of Narbonne.

Holiday makers may also want to consider visiting Biarritz while booked into villas in the south of France during September, where they'll be able to see the dance festival le Temps d'Aimer La Danse across the city.
