Michael Caine a South of France holiday fan
Actor Michael Caine has revealed that he has had a lifelong love affair with the South of France ever since his first visit in 1962.
In an article for the Times, the Italian Job star said that he has travelled the world and spent time in many different countries.
He claimed that, apart from his home, the South of France is the only place he looks forwards to returning to "with a passion".
On his first stay in the region, he visited St Tropez and Cannes, where he went sailing on a yacht to take in "the beaches, the girls and the glamour".
"I still feel good every time I arrive in Nice on the plane," the actor remarked. "I like the vibration of the area, the colour and the atmosphere."
Of course one of the things that attracts many people to the South of France is the delicious food and Mr Caine said he is no exception.
He named a number of "outstanding" restaurants in the region that he claimed are his personal favourites, including La Petite Maison in Nice, and L'Escale in St Tropez.
Those hoping to start their own love affair with the South of France could rent villas in Antheor, which sits at the heart of the Cote d'Azur and is within driving distance of St Tropez, Cannes and Nice.
