Languedoc holidays 'set to rise in popularity'
More people are expected to go on a Languedoc holiday this summer, according to a new report.
Research from Protourisme indicates that August looks set to be a bumper month for French tourism, with the Languedoc-Roussillon region in particular set to benefit, the Connexion reports.
The figures also show that French holidays in general are rising in popularity, with the weak euro helping to boost visitor numbers by between five and ten per cent in July compared with the same time last year.
Didier Arino, head of Protourisme, told AFP that the Mediterranean coast of France is becoming increasingly attractive to many foreign tourists.
"Paris and the Riviera remain dream destinations for many of the nouveau riche," he added.
Travellers looking to avoid the hassle associated with staying in a hotel can book into one of the numerous Languedoc villas available, including those in areas such as Cazouls, Magalas, Cabrerolles, Poilhes, Argeliers, Roujan and Caux.
