Languedoc holidays offer 'the rural idyll'

Languedoc holidays could offer British families the "rural idyll" that so many look for when planning their getaways.

According to the director of Shelter Offshore, France in general provides a great balance between escapism, great weather and a relaxed way of life.

Rhiannon Davies pointed out that even though France is close to the UK geographically, it is dramatically different in terms of culture, history and scenery.

"This is complimented by the fact that the weather is far better in parts of France than in the UK, the cuisine is far more adventurous and the wine is better," she added.

Languedoc in the South of France is one area that offers all of this, with sunshine all year round and plenty of fantastic wine, since it is the world's largest wine-producing region.

Holiday makers renting Languedoc villas will be able to visit lush vineyards, stroll through beautiful woodland areas, hike in the region's undulating hills and relax on its long sandy beaches.

The cuisine of Languedoc is extremely varied, so they will also be able to sample a wide range of foods in local restaurants, including traditional French cassoulet and soups unique to the region.

Languedoc villas in Caux could be a great choice for those hoping to do as much exploring as possible, as its central location makes it easy to visit both the inland areas and the Mediterranean coast.
