Highlights of holiday in south of France explained
Just a few of the advantages to taking a holiday in the south of France have been detailed by one publication.
One of the most obvious highlights of the area is its proximity to both the Atlantic and Mediterranean, giving tourists plenty to do and see by the sea.
Resorts in the region such as Biarritz offer "world-class surfing", while the medieval architecture that lines the river in Bordeaux is a UNESCO World Heritage site, reports the Connexion.
But the south of France is not all about water, there is also a rich culture that makes any trip enjoyable, particularly in food and drink.
The Aquitaine region, in the south-west corner of the country, has food at its heart, with local dishes including oysters, foie gras and crepinettes, the newspaper explains.
Guide2 Midi Pyrenees recently noted an upcoming event, the Chestnut and Cider Festival, is ideal for foodies looking for a break.
