Health tips when taking to the ski slopes of the south of France

Families who are planning on taking a getaway to a ski resort this winter, which could see occupancy being in the form of south of France villas, have been given some health tips.

Dharmesh Patel, chairman of the Eyecare Trust, has advised that people who are heading to such destinations should make sure they pack the right pair of sunglasses for the trip.

He explained that eye protection products when taking to the slopes "are generally made from pliant materials that can withstand the cold and resist breaking or shattering on impact".

Furthermore, Mr Patel pointed out that while polycarbonate lenses may prove a little more expensive to purchase than other designs, they tend to be "highly resistant to shattering" and block out a lot of UV light rays.

"Peripheral vision is important for skiing … so look for goggles with large, wide lenses or wrap-around sunglasses with the least amount of distortion you can find," the expert went on to note.

The south of France has plenty of exciting ski resorts to visit this winter, including the high-octane slopes found in Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron.
