Get into photography on a south of France holiday

Brits enjoying a south of France villa holiday this spring will be able to visit the glamorous city of Cannes to see some world-class photography.

The 2010 Sony World Photography Awards will come to the Palais des Festivals from April 22nd to 27th.

Both professional and amateur photographers are recognised in the annual awards programme, which invites submissions from all over the world.

One of the main highlights of the event for visitors is the exhibition of work by the winners, which this year will see over 200 images selected by members of the World Photographic Academy and put on public display in Cannes.

Holiday makers staying in Provence villas will be able to see the chosen works in front of the Palais des Festivals.

Several other events are arranged for the Sony World Photography Awards, including workshops, review sessions, talks by respected artists and the main prize-giving ceremonies.

Visitors will be able to see examples of various types of photography during the six-day event, from landscapes and portraits to photojournalism and fashion work.
