Fun and games available on holidays to Nice this spring
People heading to villas in the south of France next spring have a couple of treats to enjoy if they head to the city of Nice.
The popular French resort will be host to both the Gourd Festival and its charitable Half Marathon event in the first half of 2012.
First up in March is the Gourd Festival, which comes to the Cimiez quarters of Nice and is celebrated in honour of the Annunciation of Mary.
Tourists may also be interested to note that the attraction is used in order to symbolise the end of winter, with open-air festivities and mass among the ceremonies taking place.
Holiday makers can then do something for charity, or watch others showcase their giving spirit, when Nice's Half Marathon comes to the city.
Participants will run 5km across the French resort as part of the charity race, which is set up to raise breast cancer awareness.
Children can also get involved in the fun, by taking part in a 2km race exclusively for kids between nine and 16 years old.
