Expert offers tips on motoring holidays in south of France

A motoring holiday in the south of France may be a dream break for many Britons, some of whom long to travel to the region in their own vehicle before exploring it by road.

As enjoyable as such an adventure promises to be, there are a few things to remember before taking the plunge and crossing the Channel in a car, warns David Williams, writing for the Daily Telegraph.

His first piece of advice is to always take a driving licence, including the paper registration, to avoid any problems in the case of an unfortunate event.

Checking breakdown cover and ensuring it applies abroad is another wise move, as is investing in the necessary equipment.

For example, it can be a legal requirement in some areas to carry tools such as a Great Britain sticker on the back of a vehicle, adjust headlights with a specialist kit and provide a warning triangle.

Alternatively, those travelling on a holiday in the south of France by rail were recently told of Eurostar Plus, an online aid for planning trips in the country.
