Enjoy wine, food and golf on a south of France villa holidays

Trying local wine, food and golf courses are among the most popular activities on offer to people who decide to visit Bordeaux during a south of France holiday, according to a local tourism industry spokesperson.

Apolline Belondrade of Bordeaux Tourisme revealed that one of the leading golf courses in the region is Margaux Golf, which caters for high numbers of British customers.

The complex also boasts a luxury spa that might interest people who would rather spend the day relaxing than playing golf.

Holiday makers who decide to visit Bordeaux during a south of France villa break were also encouraged to try some of the cuisine on offer.

"It's impossible to leave Bordeaux without tasting its oysters," Ms Belondrade said.

"For the freshest ones in nice and simple surroundings, don't hesitate to go to 'La Boite a Huitre' in the centre of Bordeaux."

A visit to Bordeaux could be an ideal day trip opportunity for people staying in Biarritz villas.

The larger city is home to attractions such as the Grand Theatre and La Victoire, an area that boasts historical monuments alongside student bars.
