Driving 'is cheap and realistic way to reach holiday in south of France'
A travel expert has advised people who would like the freedom that comes with having a car while on holiday in the south of France to drive all the way from the UK.
David Williams, writing for the Telegraph, says although the region is a long way, the alternatives can be costly and time-consuming.
"Driving all the way is definitely the cheapest option", the author states, before suggesting people break the trip in two.
A hotel roughly half of the way into the journey breaks up the driving and allows holiday makers to enjoy a different part of France for a short while.
The options Mr Williams prefers driving to include taking a ferry to Santander, which he describes as too expensive, as well as using moto-rail systems.
Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell was last week reported by the Daily Mirror to be enjoying a holiday in the south of France.
