Do not forget goggles when taking holidays to south of France ski resorts

Holiday makers who are planning on booking up villas in the south of France so that they can visit a ski resort in the country have been advised on how they can protect their eyes while on the slopes.

David Parkins, a spokesman from the College of Optometrists, pointed out that wearers of contact lenses are at an advantage when in chilly destinations compared to those with spectacles.

This is because contact lenses never steam up when people enter a warm room after coming in from the cold - an issue frequently seen with traditional glasses.

However, Mr Parkins was keen to note: "When out in extremely cold conditions … wind chill can be more of an issue as it can dry out your eyes and contact lenses, so we would always recommend wearing protective goggles."

People still deciding on which ski resort to visit while in south of France villas this winter may want to opt for Val d'Isere, seeing as though the venue is hosting the Polo Masters Tour from January 11th until 14th.
