Dining out on south of France holiday 'is a special experience'

There are plenty of reasons to book a villa in the south of France, but one that should perhaps be regarded as more important than it currently is is the quality of cuisine on offer.

Atout France – the country's official tourism body – explains the food and drink served up in the nation is now on Unesco's World Intangible Heritages list.

One of the factors behind its elevation to the prestigious list is France's decision to set up a National Festival of Gastronomy – something that could feature the region's finest dishes.

Frederic Lefebvre, the secretary of state for tourism, has confirmed the first Festival of French Gastronomy will take place on September 23rd.

Those seeking to enjoy the delights of the country's menus while also relaxing on its beautiful beaches may find there is no better option than a stay at a villa in the south of France.

Eurostar recently suggested more people are using its train services to reach France's Mediterranean coast and southern region.
