Cote d'Azur holidays in Cannes 'have much to offer'
Cannes in the Cote d'Azur region of France is famous for its film festival - but there is more to the destination that some might think.
This is according to Gillian Anstey of the Times Live, who said she found much to see and do beyond taking in Cannes' movie-related attractions on a recent holiday to the south of France.
She highlighted a tour of the town on a "toy-like" train as one highlight of her break, noting that this type of activity is ideal for trips to Cannes even when the weather is not at its best.
"Listening to the history of Cannes through earphones as we passed its famous hotels of the belle epoque, such as the Carlton, provided the missing allure," Ms Anstey said.
Other things to do on Cote d'Azur villa holidays in Cannes include visiting the La Castre museum, which is located in a medieval castle, and the Museum of the Sea at Marguerite Island, the oldest part of the Royal Fort of the Sainte.
