Book a St Tropez holiday for a taste of the French Riviera

Holiday makers renting a South of France villa while on holiday in St Tropez will be able to sample a taste of the French Riviera.

The glamorous resort has been popular with celebrities for decades and stars such as Bridget Bardot and Jack Nicholson have made St Tropez their own personal paradise.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Philip Norman explains that he was first struck by the size of the resort, which, for all its star pulling power, remains "tiny".

"The show of ostentatious wealth on the harbour front and in the narrow streets - bling and buy', one might say - fully lives up to its legend, but there's another side of St Tropez that's quiet, charming and utterly genuine," he said.

In Place des Lices, he found a more traditional side to the town, with the glitz and glamour of the harbour being replaced by cobbled alleys, crowded washing lines and signs of the "simple fishing village St Tropez used to be".

St Tropez is just a short distance along the coast from Cannes, another favourite haunt of the rich and beautiful.

Cote D'Azur holiday makers may wish to take a trip to the busy tourist attraction, which also hosts the annual Cannes Film Festival and boasts a variety of luxury shops.
