Book a South of France villa holiday for a change of pace

People planning a South of France villa holiday will soon discover why England rugby player Jonny Wilkinson is so content living in the region.

The Daily Mail reports that Wilkinson, who is on a two-year contract with French club Toulon, is enjoying his new life on the Cote d'Azur, "swimming in the sea and cycling in the mountains, free diving and al fresco dining".

Wilkinson told the news provider that the region afforded him the luxury to escape the daily grind and pressure.

"There probably is more peace and quiet for me here - once you get slightly out of Toulon it feels like you can get away from it all," he said.

The local people were also very welcoming, he said.

"It makes you feel part of something, part of everyone else in the city, part of the whole culture of the place. I like it that people come up and say 'hello', even when I am eating."

The Cote d'Azur region in the South of France boasts picturesque harbours, and some of the most glamorous beaches in the world.

The many beach-side restaurants specialise in fresh seafood, vegetables, soups and meats. Or simply head to the local markets and pack a picnic full of fresh local produce.
