Book a South of France villa holiday and enjoy fine wine

Travellers booking a South of France villa holiday will be able to enjoy a fine selection of wines, particularly those from the Languedoc region.

One such variety that can be enjoyed according to Risk Collective is Le Dog de Charlotte, Chardonnay 2008, Vin de Pays d'Oc, which is produced in Tuchan, right in the heart of France's largest wine-making region.

Despite its somewhat humorous name, the wine was found by expert Roz Cooper to be "fresh, fragrant and attractive", without the heaviness that is often associated with wines from other parts of the world.

"The wine is affordable, but not ridiculously cheap; it is fun, but not too silly," she wrote on the website.

"It has a delicate finish which deserves understated food to accompany."

Holiday makers sampling the vintage while staying in a South of France villa may wish to do so while trying out some of the top gastronomic highlights of the Languedoc area.

These include a number of soups, Ollada, which is a type of beef stew, and Cassoulet, made from haricot beans, sausage and confit of duck or goose.
